In 2007, I was at a car show noticed all the great cars & cute girls there. One idea lead to another so I started, American Cars American Girls and after three years and several thousand dollars later here I am.

When I was taking the pictures I knew Rhonda was cute but it wasn’t until I got home and saw the pictures did I realize just how gorgeous she was. She looks so good with this beautiful 2nd Gen Camaro.

While Rhonda was cool, the owner of the Camaro was not so cool. He just about wouldn’t let us take pictures of Rhonda with his car and under no circumstances was she allowed to touch the car in any way. I ask if she could set in the seat. He reluctantly said OK but she was not allowed to put her feet inside the car (See Gallery picture 5). When we were finishing the shoot drops of unexpected rain started to fall and the owner nearly had a heart attack trying to get the Camaro back into the trailer. I guess if I had a zillion dollars tied up in a show car I wouldn’t want it out in a heavy storm. But still, even if I had a $1,000,000 SSC Tuatar super car I would let Rhonda in the driver’s seat, close the door, start the engine and drive it around the show. And if it started to rain she could turn on the windshield wipers. Rhonda Was That Cool.

It’s a first for ACAG. We covered the same car two years in a row. It’s pretty easy to do. Michael Payne’s 1981 Z28 Camaro is just so nice. It stands out even among all the 1st and 5th gen Camaros, Chevelles Corvettes and Tri-5s. The Camaro looks brand new and the color combo is a killer. Michael got the Z28 when he was sixteen and he and his father had it fully restored two years later. The Camaro has a GM 350 crated engine, Edlebrock intake and carb, Hookers headers, 2 ½” Flowmasters, 350 trans and 4.10 gears. Sans some chrome engine dress-up parts the rest of the Camaro is original. The red interior was a one year option and very rare. For pictures of the interior go to SAMANTHA GIVING DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS post. In addition to his Camaro and 454 truck, Michael is working on restoring a 1981 turbo-charged Pontac T/A.

Will it be three in-a-row for ACAG and the 1981 Z28 Camaro? I hope so!

Thanks to Samantha.

Ashley and her husband own a company called Mold Tox in Bean Station, Tennessee. These are the people who go to homes and businesses to rid the structure of the TOXIC mold lurking within. Ashley’s father-in-law is the owner of the 5th generation Camaro. I suppose that he caught on to the toxic thing and saw the cool factor and hence the name. I really like the yellow with the red accents. It’s different, it worked so in my world it gets an A+. The Camaro had all the standard upgrades with a supercharger in the planning.

I took thirty pictures of Ashley twenty were great and the other ten were really good. I only have room for six pictures in each post. I thought the only prudent thing to do is give Ashley two posts so everyone can enjoy at least twelve of the pictures. Look for “Ashley part two” later in the article.
The 1969 Camaro belongs to Lee Netschi of Knoxville, Tn.. Lee had not owned the car long and is in the process of upgrading and modernizing the performance while retaining the traditional 1st Gen look. I look for Ray to move into the the Pro-Touring scene soon . His car is a driver.

Irene is one of those girls that really knows how to pose and just doesn’t take a bad picture. Irene and husband were very nice to me at the show and with follow-up information. In this post she is posing with Terry Neuville’s 1968 Camaro. For more on the Camaro just read the next post.

The Pink Slippers, well they became just kind of point of humor. Irene said that she usually always wears heels but today she wore the pink slippers. I kind of liked the slippers, they had that Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz look.

It was my first car and I bought it when I was 15 in high school. It was a daily driver from 1980 til 1994. The car has over 230,000 total miles on it. I drove the car on five Hot Rod Power Tours from 2003 to 2007. I did my first full resto on the car starting two years ago and finished it August 2009 just in time for my first time to RTTH5. The car is never trailered. I drive it to every event no matter how far. Now it has been a year and a couple of months since the resto with over 12,600 miles in that time. In the last year I have driven from Baton Rouge LA., to Indian, to north Georgia, Houston TX. Dallas TX. and Pigeon Forge not to mention all over Louisiana.

This year at RTTH6 I finished fourth overall at the autocross. They took the fastest 8 cars from the day and had a two lap runoff. I was the eighth fastest of the day with a 1:10.5 which got me into the runoff. After running my first runoff lap and missing a cone and getting a DNF (did not finish) the pressure was really on to put in a good lap on my final run of the day. My final run was good for forth place, but they did not tell us what our times where in the runoff.

The car has a LS2 engine with 4L65E transmission, 18″ Forgeline wheels, DSE Quadralink rear suspension on coilovers, Global West front suspension on coilovers, 14″ Baer brakes all the way around, GPS Nav, DVD player, reverse camera, security with remote start, power windows and power door locks, paint is House of Kolors candy apple red over silver with ghost strips.’’

Thanks for all the cool pictures and your time. Very cool website also.

She was stunning. I approached her about posing.and she gave me the old song and dance about not being able to pose. It’s a familiar song from girls until they get in front of the car and suddenly they’re Tyra Banks. Mary Anne was an exception. She was shy and very self conscious when the camera came out. She gave it a good try but I stopped after the third picture. I was able to put her in the driver’s seat where she hit a couple of really nice poses. Thanks Mary Anne for giving it a try. Mary Anne and husband came in from Orlando, Fl to compete in the RTTH

The hubby’s 1969 Camaro was special because of the Kenny Bell supercharged LSX engine. It was one of the few forced induction car I saw at the RTTH. It was also special because Mary Anne’s husband had done all the work on the Camaro, including all the mechanical, paint and body and everything else.
