2013 VIPER: THERE’S NEW NEWS

The new news is that there will be no 2013 Dodge Viper but there will be a 2013 SRT Viper. Chrysler Corp is working to transform SRT into a brand of exclusive vehicles to compete with the likes of BMW, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz when it comes to performance and exclusivity. The SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology that was used by the Dodge to brand their highest level performance cars.

The newest Viper won’t be riding on a modified Alfa Romeo or Ferrari platform, as rumored. Don’t forget Chrysler Corp. is owned by Alfa Romeo. The Pentastar has said while there may be some similarities to the Alfa Romeo Competizone 8C the new Viper will make use of entirely unique underpinnings and will carry significantly different proportions compared to the Alfa 8C. Part of that means doing away with the snake’s iconic long hood in favor of a design with a little more balance.

The Mopar super car won’t utilize a Ferrari engine for its power, also rumored. However, Chrysler’s spokes person stopped short of saying whether or not the old 640 horsepower V10 will survive the vehicle’s rebirth. That means that a new engine may surface, though the number of cylinders and how much horsepower it will produce remain a mystery. My prediction is the current Viper 8 liter V10 with Alfa/Ferrari direct injection technology, maybe 800 naturally aspirated hp

We have included pictures of the last model Dodge Viper(leas picture), a picture of the current Alfa Competizone 8C and the last picture is a “spy” picture of the 2013 SRT Viper. One thing for sure is that the old Dodge front style grill will be gone. The spy picture does show that.

Setting a lap record for a production car around the infamous Nürburgring seems to have become an obsession recently. You may recall that Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology (SRT) team originally broke the record in August 2008 when the newly launched 2008 Dodge Viper ACR went to Germany with driver Tom Coronel and established a new production car lap record time of 7:22.1, a record that stood until earlier 2011.

Just recently a Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition set the new record. It didn’t last long though as on Sept. 14, 2011 a Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR recaptured the production car lap record with a 7:12.13 elapsed time – over two seconds faster than the Lexus’ time.

The Lexus LFA (see picture under video) is a super high tech car costing $400,000 The Viper SRT10 ACR cost a $100,000 at the time of production.

CASSONDRA – IT JUST DOESN’T GET MUCH BETTER — 2011Viper

Life becomes harmonious for me when I get to photograph a gorgeous girl, who knows how to pose and is affiliated with the car . Such was the case with Casssondra: cute. photogenic, and her dad owned the car. In addition to all the this Casssondra was polite and fun to be around. Their car is a 2005 Copper Head Viper with recently installed carbon fiber hood and trunk lid. Cassondra is a recent high school graduate who will be heading off to collage in the fall.

MIA – DISPITE IT ALL IT WORKED — 2011Viper

About the only problem with doing this kind of event is that the cars usually are not parked in the best position and/or place to take good pictures. Such was the case here. Mia’s uncle had parked his Viper in some very dense shade that was surrounded by bright sun. The Viper was also parked on the side of a road so that the car was sloping in two directions. The difficultly of the situation was further exacerbated by Mia who acted like she didn’t want her picture taken. After a lot of coaxing, pleading and ok I’ll only take one picture and then two, and three etc. we got some pictures. And, Dispite IT All It Worked and worked surprising well. Mia is a nursing student at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.

The girl who is showing her tail in Gallery Picture 4 was not affiliated with the Vipers. It’s certainly not what I was referring to in the title of this article, THE VIPERS GET SOME TAIL, at least I don’t think so. Maybe you should should ask the Vipers for clarification on this.

It’s much more than the coordiation of the black and white stripes, it’s that plus the girl, plus the pose, plus the car, plus the angle, plus the light, plus the synergy, This is one of the better pictures I’ve ever taken. Thanks Lisa! Lisa was at the Viper event with her husband. Their 2006 SRT 10 Viper is a former Chrysler Corp. track car with mulitiple unknown engine upgrades. Lisa and husband are from Fayetteville, Ga.

SHARON, TONY And Their KICK-ASS VIPER –2011VIPER

You know that a Viper with permanently mounted laptop in the cockpit is probably a car with some impressive stats. How does 1000 hp on pump gas and 1,200 hp on race gas sound? You also know that if the laptop goes well into the riders side of a 1000hp car that there must be a pretty cool wife. How does the sexy Sharon Armour sound? She loves this car just as much as her husband Tony Armour. Their car is a twin turbo 1996 GTS Viper. The versatility of this 1,000 hp Viper is just amazing . Drive it anywhere, anytime no problems. When Tony wants to go drag racing he takes the Viper and swaps out the 6 sp manual and puts in the 2 sp. power glide automatic transmission. It’s a swap that Tony does regularly and has it down to a three hour science. All the adjustments he needs to make to go from street to track, manual to automatic, pump gas to racing gas are at his finger tips of his permanently mounted laptop.

Tony owns Armour Racing in Dalton Ga. If I had a Viper he’d be my man.

2013 VIPER Will Be Here Late 2012

That’s a for sure but what exactly it will be is a well hidden secret. Our main picture is only a guess as are all the pictures. A little updating on the Chrysler Corp situation is needed before we get into what we think the 2013 Viper might be. After emerging from bankruptcy Chrysler Corp. is doing ok and is now controlled by Fiat. Fiat is Italy’s largest automobile manufacturer. They own all the major Italian brands: Fiat, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati and, Ferrari. Viper designers and engineers now have all these new and exotic resources at their disposal.

The 4th Gen Viper’s 8.4L V10 will likely carry over to the new 5th Gen with at least 600 horsepower. The addition of direct-injection and MultiAir technology from Fiat could boost that figure to 700 or higher. The 8.4L engine may be a little crude, but it’s actually setup to pass emission regulations through 2018. The 2013 Viper will lose weight, be more refined and likely have traction control technology borrowed from Ferrari. For styling clues I think there would be some styling influence from the beautiful Alfa-Romeo 8C super car shown in Gallery Picture 1 and then with a grafted Viper nose in Galler Picture 2. In a few years a replacement of the 8.4 liter engine with a much smaller displacement but equally powerful Ferrari/Maserati engine will probably take place.

As a side note look for the Fiat’s new 900cc 2-cylinder turbocharged engine working with an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery to be the first Fiat built car to be sold through the Chrysler Corp. distributorships. See Gallery picture 5.

I’m about to get my skinny little butt in trouble here but I was a little concerned about the availability of AmericanGirls. You know only maybe forty cars and with mostly fifty year old owners, I might get shut out. I was ecstatic when I pulled into the meet-up point at the Campbell Station Cracker Barrel in Knoxville and saw Natilie and her boyfriend checking out all the beautiful Vipers. Natalie was quite willing to help me out. It turns out that Natalie is quite the car girl herself, owning a 1997 Z28 Camaro. By the way it turned out there was a plethora of beautiful Viper girls for me to photograph!!!!!!!!!

ON THE WAY TO THE DRAGON’S TAIL

When we left the Cracker Barrel onto I-40 the caravan of Vipers had to be going 100 m.p.h.. I had my old Dodge minivan at 90 and I totally lost the draft. Thankfully I caught up to them at this gas station.
