2013 MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 — 650hp

In response to the 580 hp Camaro ZL1, Ford has developed the 2013 Mustang Shelby GT500. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500, which goes on sale late 2012, sports a supercharged 5.8-liter V8 and a new optional Performance package. Ford says the aluminum engine, which is rated at 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque, is “the most powerful production V8 engine in the world.” The 2013 Shelby GT500

Ford said it has reworked virtually every key component of the driveline, fitting a larger, more-efficient TVS supercharger, new cross-drilled engine block and cylinder heads, updated cam profiles, a new carbon-fiber driveshaft and upgraded clutch, transmission and axle. To handle the additional torque while still delivering reasonable fuel economy, the six-speed manual transmission was regeared and beefed up. The optional Performance package bundles SVT-designed Bilstein electronic adjustable dampers and a Torsen limited-slip differential. An optional Track package adds an external engine oil cooler, rear differential cooler and transmission cooler. Among the additional features on the 2013 Shelby GT500 are a new launch control system, Brembo brakes, revised aerodynamics and new forged-aluminum wheels measuring 19 inches in front and 20 inches in the rear, all with Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2 tires.

The Mustang will have 70 more hp and a slightly lower curb than the Camaro. The Camaro will have advantage in some electronic driving stablity gadgetry. Estimated pricing for the two cars Mustang GT500:$60,000, Camaro ZL1:$47,000

SAMANTHA WITH WALTER CALBOUGH’s 2004 MACH 1 MUSTANG — 2011 4th

First of all note the functional shaker hood on the 2004 Mach 1. The shaker hood were a part of the first generation of Mach 1s and were brought back for the 2003 and 2004 models. Walter Calbough is an iconic figure in the local car show scene and Mustang community and I feel privileged to be able to photograph his Mach 1. Walter and AmericanCarAmericanGirls.com were both privileged to have Samantha agree to pose with the Mach1. Samantha works in the health care industry as an LPN and was as cute and sexy as they come.

ANNE MARIE AND COBRA— POST JULY 4TH

Anne Marie is posing with her and her husband’s 1966 Cobra replica. They spent all morning participating in a 4th of July parade in another town and then drove to Kingston. They arrived at the show at about 2:00 pm. Riding around in unaircondition, top down convertible on a 93 degree day can leave even a gorgeous girl looking a little worn. But Anne Marie, being the nice lady she is, agreed to pose and we got the pictures. I subsequently sent the pictures to Anne Marie and her husband. The husband said the pictures didn’t show how gorgeous Anne Marie was and could they get a reshoot. Sounded great to me. About two weeks later in the cool of the late evening we have the the real Anne Marie.

2011 NASHVILLE GOODGUYS –THEY WERE REALLY GOOD TO ME : AUTOCROSSING VIDEOS

The official name was the 6th Bridgestone Nashville Nationals but it was a GoodGuys event. These guys are the biggest in the business on putting on car shows, twenty one events throughout the nation. About three days before the event I thought I’d give it a shot and emailed GoodGuys asking for a press pass, expecting no reply, these guy are big time and they’re busy. But a pleasant surprise was on my email the next day. The email said something like; Love your website your press packet will be available at the Marriot convention center after 1:00PM on Friday. For the several days I felt important. Thanks GoodGuys!!

GoodGuys events are open to only pre 1972 American made cars and it’s the place to be seen when it’s in your region of the country. One of the coolest things is the recent addition of an autocross at most GoodGuys events. This has added an action dimension and has added a whole new group of cars, the Pro Touring car. It also has given the show cars guys a place just see how their cars will do.

2012 Shelby GT350

After a 45-year hiatus, the Shelby GT350 returned last year when Shelby America introduced a limited-edition coupe. This year, it’s the convertible’s turn. Offered with a 430-horsepower naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine or supercharged variants with 525 or 624 horsepower, respectively, the GT350 will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in as little as 3.7 seconds. Other go-fast features include an all-new front suspension, Baer front brakes, Borla center-exit exhaust and Cragar 19-inch alloy wheels. The body also gets unique front and rear treatments, plus extra cooling ducts for all four brakes.

Summer 2010 East Tn. Region SCCA AUTOCROSS

If you live in a metropolitan area with 250,000 people or more, more than likely there’s an autocross going on in your area every weekend during the warm season months. It’s fun to go watch the racing and to mingle among the participants and their cars. Be careful though, you may get hooked. What is an Autocross? It’s an empty parking, lots of pylons, timing devices and one car at a time.

BRITTNEY, COBRA and SPOUSES — Autocross

The Cobra Brittney is posing with, is owned and was built by James and Kim Simmons of Luttrel, Tn. When I put Kim’s name in there as a builder it was not a token. From my conversation with the two of them it was clear that Kim was a true 50% participant in the build. Kim has never driven the car and was so flattered that Brittney was posing with their car. We should all be as good a spouse.

When I ask Brittney to pose I didn’t know that her husband was driving in the autocross. We were walking across the parking lot to the Cobra and this guy hollered “What are you doing Brittney?” Brittney said “I’m having my picture taken.” He replied in a semi-angry tone “WHAT! WHY! Brittney said “Because I want to.” I ask Brittney who the guy was and she told me not to mind that it was just her husband. As it turned out the husband was a good guy but kept a close eye on the shoot until it was his turn to drive. I hope we didn’t mess up his lap. Brittney has some really good pictures in the gallery and she has some really, really good pictures in the gallery. I want to thank Brittney and her spouse.

CHRISTINA – Our Paths Just Barely Crossed — Mustangs of Memphis

I say some place in almost every article, “I don’t how I get so lucky”. I was leaving the show, calling it a day and heading home. At the same time Christina and family were coincidently driving by the show and just thought they would stop in. Our Paths Just Barely Cross as I was leaving and they were coming. I was lucky once again. Christina was super cute, effervescent, could hit some great poses and just fun to be around. Christina is a Memphis native and list server and school as her occupation.

Christina is posing with Anthony “Slinky” Lynch’s 2006 Steeda Mustang GT. Slinky’s car won Tom’s Award for: The car I would most like to take home. This car was just cool looking and had all the go fast goodies and handling upgrades from Steeda. Steeda only produced sixty five Mustangs in 2006 and this was the number three car produced

NORA – An All AmericanGirl – Mustangs of Memphis

Nora almost looked out of place, way too exotic for car show in Memphis. Maybe the Grand Prix of Monaco should be her place. But hey, she’s an Arkansas girl, at the Mustangs of Memphis show with her husband and their 1965 Mustang GT and she agreed to pose for AmericanCarsAmericanGirls. A little self conscious at first Nora got a bit more comfortable as we went along. Her gallery pictures number I and 2 are two of some my all time favorite AmericanGirl pictures.
