2010 Street Rod Nationals South

The Nation Street Rod Association’s 2010 Street Rod Nationals South was held on the same weekend that the thousand year flood hit Nashville and middle Tennessee. Thankfully the show was held some 150 miles east of Nashville at the Chilhowee Park in Knoxville. A lot of rain was forecasted but not a great deal fell during the prime hours of the show. As shown in the pictures the sun was plentiful Saturday morning and early afternoon.

When I go to these shows I’m never ceased to be amazed by the number of guys and the amount of talent they possess.

SHARON my savior

I was so excited to see Sharon. I had been at the show for what seemed an eternity and just couldn’t find an AmericanGirl but alas there she was in the distance coming through one of the many entrances to the show. I was so lucky. I felt like a starker as I followed her and her boyfriend for ten minutes before I was in the right situation to ask Sharon to pose. She said “Sure’’, although I don’t think her boyfriend was particularly pleased with the situation. Sharon was so nice, so pretty and so sexy. Her and her boyfriend, Curt Baker, had come in for the show from Charlotte NC because he is in the beginning stages of starting a magazine called Fuel Line Magazine. Look for it on your newsstands soon.

EMMY is a real Hustler

Beware of cute girls showing a lot of skin (EMMY) asking you to sign up for a drawing for a free trip to Hawaii. Later that week I learned the fine print said I had signed to have my house vinyl sided. My brick house just doesn’t look the same anymore. EMMY was a little hesitant about posing at first but I think she was only conning me again. She jumped in and hit some of the cutest poses I’ve ever seen. EMMY is student at the University of Tennessee majoring in hustling, only joking, marketing.

The car Emmy is posing with is a 1929 Ford Roadster owned by Bob and Kathie Roush (no relation to Jack) from Upper Arlington, Oh. The particulars a listed on the gallery page

ALLISON and ROBYN at the Lemonade Stand

Lemonade stands seem to be ubiquitous at the Street Rod National South but I found the best one. It was staffed by Allison and Robyn both of Knoxville. The girls’ day job was listed as night time bartenders. The lemonade was surprising good and even if it wasn’t it would have been ok.

CHERYL’s engaged

I met Cheryl Norton and Tom Howard at the Street Rod Nationals South. When I got home I was surprised when I read my notes and realized they weren’t married. How was I going to write this up? They didn’t seem like a boyfriend and girlfriend? Maybe they were celebrities and kept their own names. My problem was solved some three weeks later when I saw Cheryl and Tom at the Borla Spring Fling where Cheryl proudly showed me her engagement ring. She said she was going to adopt Tom’s 1953 GMC pickup truck and raise it as her own.
