GOODGUYS ROD and CUSTOM ASSOCIATION, for those who may not know, is an organization that holds twenty car events across the nation for pre 1972 cars and trucks. It’d huge and the events are huge. No use me giving a long explanation on what GOODGUYS is or does., it would be boring and redundant. Just Google in GOODGUYS and find anything and everything you would want to know. All I have to know is that there is going to be a superfluity of great looking, super fine AmericanCarsAmericanGirls at a GOODGUYS event

BOBBY, SONYA and their 1971 SS CAMARO

This is what I call a power group. Bobby looks like he plays tight end for the Tennessee Titans, Sonya is in your face sexy, and their 1971 SS Camaro looked like a combination of the two: POWERFUL and SEXY.  The Camaro was extremely well done, just check out the pictures, with most of the work done by Bobby. The running gear is a 540 c.i .Chevy with a Tremec. 6 sp. The paint and body work was superb and the In their hometown of Memphis Sonya daily driver is a 2010 Cadillac CTS V with an LSA engine. The LSA engine cranks out 556 hp and is the same engine that goes in the new ZR1. Bobby daily driver is a 1987 Cutlass. I guess we can see who has the real power in this power group

SURE THING

In the picture we have Tony Grzelakowski’s wife Debbie and their award winning 1966 SS Chevelle. Their car being more specifically their company’s, Advanced Body & Color, car. Tony lost his job in the massive down sizing of GM and has turned his passion/hobby of building custom cars into his new profession. The Chevelle won the 2008 Detroit Autorama class winner and the 2008 Super Rod Magazine pick of show winner.

Tony and Debbie are spending all their weekends promoting their Chevelle and their new business Advanced Body & Color. Have they made a go of it in these unusual times? Although I have not communicated with Tony and Debbie I’m saying it’s a SURE-THING. Talent and hard work always seem to come out on top. Tony’ email is tonyg@advancedbodyandcolor.com if you have any questions or need any work done. Please check out the pictures to see the details of this thoroughly modernized Chevelle

RACHEL and Family had me DAZED and CONFUSED

I usually just lead in with one picture but in this case I had to do two pictures to explain my header. Rachel in the green top is the fifteen year old daughter of Kristy and Shane. When I approached the group about taking Rachel’s picture I assumed that Kristy and Rachel were sisters or friends and Shane was the boyfriend or husband of one of the girls. At least I was right about one of the combos. I still get dazed and confused. The family calls Nashville home. Rachel ultimate daily driver when she’s sixteen is a 1969 Camaro.  Rachel is posing with Eddie and Sarah Rochelle’s menacing 350ci 5 sp 1937 Nash. Rachel is one of the most natural posers I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. When a girl says ‘’how do you want me to pose’’ I just bring out the pictures of Rachel.

I see Connie cleaning on this crazy wild 1957 Chevy. She has on her blue jean shorts and a tee shirt. I approach and find out it’s her boyfriend’s car and yes she’d be happy to pose for a few pictures with the car. I’m getting my camera out and I glance over and see Connie taking her tee shirt off. WOW was this my lucky day or what. I think her boyfriend must have an affinity for crazy wild things. By the time our shoot was over Connie and the 1957 Chevy had drawn quite the crowd. Connie hometown is Apopka,Fl where she at one time was a fire fighter but now sales fire fighting and fire prevention supplies. Connie transportation around Apopka includes a 2003 c5 Corvette and a 2008 Honda CBR600 RR crutch rocket motorcycle.
Connie’s boyfriend is Mark Strawver the owner of the 1957 Chevy. Mark bought the car when he was eleven years old for $100.00.and has been working on it ever since. The engine currently in the car has been dynod at 1,850 H.P.

Star and Rob were celebrating their seventh anniversary the very day I took this picture at the GoodGuys event. It looks like Star was wanting to get the celebration started right away. Rob had recently finished building this spectacular 1937 Ford coupe and was offering it for sale. That’s what Rob does, builds and then sell his hot rods. Star and Rob hauled the car in from their home in Terry Haute In. Back in Terry Haute Star hauls mail for the USPS

TAYLOR and the RAT ROD

I’ve grown to love the Rat Rods. I am hoping to do a Rat Rod show before the 2009 car season ends.To pose with the old, worn out, but super cool look of a Rat Rod I was looking for a young, fresh, super cool girl. I waited a full 30 minutes before Taylor arrived. When I saw her it was love at first sight. Taylor was at the show with her boyfriend and boyfriends parents. A little hesitant at first, Taylor did a great job. Taylor listed her hometown as Decatur.but with no state. There is a Decatur in most every state in the union so I’m going to go ahead and narrow it down to Alabama, Georgia, or Tennessee.

Classic Restoration’s 1970 Mustang

January 9, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The Good Guys events are open to any American vehicle made prior to 1972. That being said the shows are dominated by street rods and GM muscle cars. The Ford and MOPAR muscle cars are not well represented. I looked really hard to find a Mustang and when I did it was worth the effort. Classic Restorations out of Floyds Knobs, In. had brought in a stunning 1970 Mustang Fastback. The particulars being a Ford 460 c.i. crate engine and 5 sp manual transmission. I would describe the car as subtle over the top.

ERIN

I was on the prowl for a great looking girl that would compliment Classic Restorations Mustang Fastback. Working against me was that this was one of those hot Nashville days, something like 96 degrees, 70% humidity and not a hint of breeze. By 2:00 pm everyone was hot, sweaty, and looking worn out. Even the great ones were looking raged. Then the sky’s parted and ERIN appeared. She was walking and looking like it was 76 degrees with a nice cool breeze. Luckily for me she said ‘’sure’’. She quickly hit some stunning poses and then just kept on walking like it was a walk in the park on a cool summers’ eve.
